Great news: Brigitte.de invited me for an interview —as a debating expert, they wanted to ask me about “arguments in relationships”. I am delighted that the article is online as of today!
Arguments in relationships
When the Brigitte reporter called and asked me, as a debating expert, for tips on “arguments in relationships”, it quickly became clear this would be interesting. Of course, she did not want tips on resolving conflicts. It was more about a situation we all know: bickering with your partner and wanting to gain the rhetorical upper hand for once. So she asked me for tips from the toolbox of dark rhetoric, so readers could win their next disagreement with their sweetheart for once. So let me be clear: please do not take my tips entirely seriously; always take them with a wink and reconciliation already in mind! You can read on Brigitte.de how to handle little squabbles with your loved one skilfully: Read the interview here!
Support from the German debating champion
In the interview, I present various strategies for manipulating the person you are debating with. That way, you need not lose the next disagreement over holiday plans or home furnishings. Of course, a real relationship involves much more. So please do not overdo it if you value your relationship! Manipulation does happen in every relationship—we are probably all guilty of it—but anyone who overdoes it must expect negative consequences. So be kind to each other! 😉 And if arguments in your relationship do turn into a real fight:
- take a deep breath
- focus on how much you really like each other
- and try nonviolent communication instead of manipulation
With that in mind: good luck arguing, making up and loving one another! Thank you to Annalena Schieber of Brigitte.de for the conversation, and enjoy reading! (Image: screenshot from Brigitte.de)
